Purlvision
Empowered men and women knit with gusto. This week: cables.
Over 38 million women know how to either knit or crochet according to one article. It’s popular with celebrities and commoners alike. I love knitting. Veronica loves knitting. Erica loves knitting. So, why is there no knitting on television?
There are craft shows on television. There was the lady armed with a glue-gun; but, I’ve never been able to watch it long enough to see if she knits. There are even several quilting television shows. There are even more sewing shows.
I’m not talking about one of those dull community access shows with one camera. The knitting television show –let’s call it Purlvision– would be sexy. Purlvision would be like Man-Made Food.
They’re cute, they’re sexy and they can knit
The show would be three or four people all knitting different projects. It would almost be like those work-out shows that have low-impact and high-intensity workouts at the same time. Low-impact garter stitch beside fair-isle with cables at the high end.
Have a guy in there. Not a token guy, get a guy who knows his way around a skein. I might suggest the guy who works at the Lewiscraft in the Capilano Mall. In about four minutes, he managed to explain knitting on three double pointed needles to me. He should be able to explain it to the masses.

Most of the time I spend knitting, I’m watching television. So, why can’t there be a show about knitting?

I completely agree. There is on Do-It-Yourself Network ‘Knitty Gritty’ which I don’t get and on Public television, ‘Shay Pendray’s Needleart Studio’ again, which I don’t get here in MA. I’m bummed.
