CBC Presents…Shades of Black
Based on the book by Richard Siklos, Shades of Black tells the story of Lord Black of Crossharbour and the charges brought against him by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Starring Stuart McLean as Conrad Black and Gillian Deacon as Barbara Amiel. Special appearance by Brent Bambury as Jason Priestly. Drama.
It was disappointing that this sad, sad movie appeared on CTV. It was so close to one of those CBC productions that they tout for months–and ends up so disappointing. I almost wish that it was a CBC production with more of the stars of Road to Avonlea. Furthermore, no one could pick Gillian Deacon out of a daytime TV show line-up. I think this could give her acting career the boost it needs. While she doesn’t really act, she’s Barbara Amiel skinny. And, that’s all that seems to matter for the role. The CBC is probably too scared to make a potentially libelous made-for-tv-movie about Conrad Black. He’d sue them with his last few pennies.
I still offer up The Apprentice with Conrad Black. No one’s taken that one up yet.
